Café IGLU Pinguin

The new "attraction on the Semmering" is our "glass igloo" called "Pinguin".

In the Semmering region a fashionable meeting place and a cosy pub, where young and old can sit together over a glass of beer in a good mood and a pleasant atmosphere, has been missing for a long time. With our igloo we have been able to fill this gap and have drawn large crowds. By virtue of the unique domed form you are "close to nature and the stars", regardless of whether a storm is blowing, it is snowing, the sun is shining or the rain is beating against the window panes. In wintertime our igloo in the middle of the lifts and at the heart of the metropolis at the top of the pass is the meeting place of all the skiers and winter sportspeople. In summertime we can offer you a wonderful sun terrace with a view of the Hirschenkogel, Pinkenkogel and Sonnwendstein. Night life in the igloo is promising all the year round.

We offer a variety of LIVE MUSIC, our own DJ in the winter season, modern, up-to-date music, evergreens, light bar music and, above all, a GOOD ATMOSPHERE!

Now, what does our "IGLU" look like:

It is a domed structure using supporting arches. Its beautiful finishing and architectural composition, consisting of strong wood glue binders and insulated glass, have already attracted considerable attention.

In the middle of the dome, circular and centrally placed, there is the bar, which maintains and asserts itself as the absolute centre of attention. Everybody meets there and everything is discussed there. In the front part of the dome, to the left and right of the bar, there are high tables with comfortable barstools, and a bench covering the whole of the back with round tables and easy chairs invites people to relax and sit together.

It is also worth mentioning that at a height of 5 metres there is a wonderful, shining starry sky, which only serves to stress doubly the unusual and interesting surroundings. The good and well-finished work of the joiners, the good ideas of our interior architect and the beautiful decorations make everyone confirm the good taste of the igloo.

The external execution of the structure is conceived in such a way that it forms a unit with the building, indeed, it is possible to sense the architect's intention to allow the outside - nature - to grow into the dome. Enclosing the structure there is a dreamy sun terrace, offering room for about 70 persons, which catches the eye especially due to the sophistication of the layout of the plants, paths and paving stones.
